I am going to talk about a book that EVERY mumpreneurs or mumpreneurs-to-be should have! I am talking about The Mumpreneur Guide written by Antonia Chitty. I had the privilege to receive a copy and I loved it.
If I had to give one warning it is: DO NOT attempt to read this book before bedtime or you might end up with a mind full of ideas, wanting to get out bed there and then to start on the practical exercises and take action! This is what happened to me.
It was a normal Thursday evening. Craig was out at a work do (that's not normal, he is usually home on Thursdays I have to say). Once the children tucked up in bed I had a choice: cook myself a healthy balanced meal and sit down and watch soap on TV OR I could grab a bar of chocolate (a giant one of course) and start reading the book I had received that morning. The latter was my choice. Firstly the chocolate was the most attractive of the two, but then I started reading and I was hooked. Soon the chocolate was dumped and the TV turned off.
I decided to run a bath. I took my book with me and kept reading until the water turned cold and rather unpleasant. The paper started sticking to my fingers too.
I could have left it there, but no I wanted to read more! That's when I started a fight with my eyelids and begged them to stay open just a little bit longer, but it became too much. Craig came home to find me eyes closed, mouth open and the book open on my chest. You get the picture? I was so hooked I couldn't let go of it.
This is the first book I have finished in months and I am not lying!! Since March I have started about 4 books that are mainly books to be reviewed and I still haven't finished them... how bad...
Now let me give you a proper idea of what you will find reading this book:
You will find Inspiration - Lots of successful business women took part and talk about their personal experience.
You will find Practical advice - you have access to a lot of practical information from how to write a business plan (easiest plan to follow) to how to find your customers and lots more.
It goes Straight to the point - no padding, no fluff. It goes straight to what you need to know and it is easy to read and understand.
It is broken into small tasks easy to tackle in a short time - precious when you are a busy mum!
I read this book in a time when I was losing confidence in my new project which is relaunching my coaching business in a slightly different direction and like with any new venture you are likely to have moment of self doubts and lack of confidence. This book shows you that others did it or are doing it, so why wouldn't you? But it also shows you the way to success by dropping little stones for you to follow at your own pace.
Did you guess that I liked it?! Since finishing it I have come back to it a number of times and I am now going to order Antonia's other books, and so should you!!
